Deltona High School

SC/EBD

2018-2019

Welcome to SC E/BD! You will be working online through the Edgenuity program this year and I am excited to get to work with you. Most of your day will be spent working through your online classes but you will have face to face to face classes with me as well! We have a lot to get to learning about ourselves and where we want to see ourselves in the future.

Grading Policy: Students will be graded on their consistent demonstration of proficiency of the content standards for the course which can be found at www.CPlams.org.  Students will receive interventions when necessary and have multiple opportunities to demonstrate proficiency.  As students complete the intervention activities and demonstrate proficiency, any recorded I’s will be replaced in Gradebook with the students’ most recent grades.  Students grades will be 60% of their summative work (Course Standards) and 40% of their formative work (Daily classroom assignments/tasks.)

Deltona High School will use the VCS grading scale:

Students who score less than 60% after averaging the grades from the summative assessments of content standards will receive an I (“in-progress”) on their interim or report card. I’s will be changed appropriately (A, B, C, D, or F) by the end of each semester.

Classroom Expectations: To provide a productive and peaceful learning environment all students will be required to adhere to the following:

  •  Follow Directions
  • follow all school rules and policies
  • cell phone use during any class period is prohibited
  • dress code guidelines will be enforced
  • be respectful and courteous to peers and those in authority
  • verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated
  • arrive to class on time
  • bring all supplies
  • follow instructions immediately and completely
  • speak with permission – calling out is unacceptable

  • Follow all rules as found in the Student Code of Conduct; especially in regards to the Volusia County and DHS dress code. (Cell phones, MP3 players, and other electronic devices may not be in sight during class.)

SC E/BD uses a Level System to measure all student behaviors. You can earn 35 points per day. You earn time outside of the unit to include breakfast and lunch as well as earning classes with the general population. The Level System will be presented in more detail within the first week of school.

Sleeping: Students ability to participate effectively in class is diminished when they sleep in class.  They will be given a verbal warning for the first incident.  Subsequent incidents will be documented.

Tardiness and Absences: The student handbook outlines the penalties for late arrivals to class and absenteeism.  Students who are not in class at the bell will be marked tardy.

Make-up Policy: The student handbook outlines the schools’ policy for make-up work due to absences; however, it is the students’ responsibility to request the missed work on the day they return to school

Technology: Classes are accessed via the internet. Students are expected to adhere by the school and district policies regarding the use of computers in the classroom. Students will not use unauthorized web sites as outlined in the acceptable use policy found on the Volusia County School website, http://myvolusiaschools.org/
